Child Protection Awareness

Activity Overview

Raises community-wide understanding of child rights, protection laws, and abuse prevention mechanisms to create a safer environment for all children.

Importance:
In a refugee context, children are at heightened risk of neglect, abuse, and exploitation. Raising awareness empowers communities to recognize, report, and prevent harm, ensuring a safer environment for children to thrive.

Example Activity:
“Child Protection Week” campaign featuring mobile loudspeaker announcements, children’s parades, and educational forums held in schools, churches, and marketplaces.

How We Do It

  • Conduct community sensitization campaigns using drama, posters, and radio messages.
  • Train local child protection committees and youth ambassadors.
  • Facilitate interactive workshops in schools, churches, and youth centers.

Impact:
Increased community reporting of child abuse, establishment of local child protection committees, and stronger inter-agency collaboration for case referrals.
